To protect it, the Law for the protection of cultural properties established a “cultural heritage” designation system, where designated places should be preserved. With the collaboration of the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Japan cultural heritages has been mapped as a WebGIS tool where more than 100,000 places can be visualized. In this talk will be presented tool functionalities and technically its OpenSource based architecture.
